They received a considerable number of possessions and rights in todays Franconia through purchase, pledge, skillful diplomacy and, in some cases, through armed conflicts. On April 30, 1415, King Sigismund appointed his loyal Burgrave Friedrich VI. even elector of the Mark Brandenburg.
